3Dwalkthroughs.com in Chicago Day 2

Before the second day of the 2008 Club Industry trade show, I had about 3 hours to walk around downtown Chicago and check out the sights. It is amazing how certain areas looked and even felt exactly like Manhattan.

As I mentioned in my previous post, the architecture was quite diverse and very interesting. There was actually an architectural boat tour that travelled through the canals of the downtown area, pointing out some of the cooler buildings.

The picture above was taken in Millenium park. It reveals a sculpture dubbed the Chicago Bean created by Anish Kappor.

Chicago Illinois - The Cloud Gate Sculpture at Millennium Park: "The Bean"
Cloud Gate is British artist Anish Kapoor's first public outdoor work installed in the United States. The 110-ton elliptical sculpture is forged of a seamless series of highly polished stainless steel plates, which reflect the city's famous skyline and the clouds above. A 12-foot-high arch provides a "gate" to the concave chamber beneath the sculpture, inviting visitors to touch its mirror-like surface and see their image reflected back from a variety of perspectives.

3Dwalkthroughs.com will definitely be visiting Chicago again soon although probably not until the spring. The word on the street was that the winters are brutally cold...not for me.
