The main drawback of creating these assets without having the CAD files is the lack of accuracy as it relates to the actual building specs. If this is the case, the finished 3D asset needs to have a clear disclaimer stating that it may vary from the actual product.
With that being said, 3D Floor Plans and 3D Renderings created strictly from 2D Floor Plans can still be very effective sales tools. If the CAD files are not used, we always try to get our clients to focus more on the accuracy of the interior finishings. Whether this means delivering reference pictures, tile samples, carpet swatches, etc., utilzing more accurate finishing details can help to narrow the gap created by a lack of CAD files.
