Sony Nearing The Launch Of Their Own 3D Virtual World "Home"
Sony has announced that they will be launching their own 3D Virtual World in the spring of 2008. Their new 3D virtual world platform will be called “Home” and will be integrated in Playstation 3. "Home" is said to be a cross between private chat rooms, MySpace, YouTube and online gaming,” explained Ron Festejo, creative director, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

The goal of "Home" is to provide gamers with a compelling and interactive world where they can connect with others online to play games and socialize.
Sony has plans to integrate many of their other products into "Home" such as video game and movie downloads, as well as music and TV programming. In addition, "Home" will give users the ability to customize their avatars and apartments which will all be managed through the PS3 interface.
3Dwalkthroughs.com is looking forward to seeing Sony's new 3D virtual world platform as we believe it will demonstrate the next level of graphics that virtual worlds can offer. As Sony gets closer to their launch we imagine we will be hearing much more about what "Home" has to offer.
As a side note, congratulations to the NY Giants for one of the best Super Bowl upsets of all times.
