3D Internet - Part 2

A week ago 3Dwalkthroughs.com mentioned the keynote address to be given by Intel's CTO Justin Rattner describing his view on a 3D Internet and how it could transform the online experience.

Intel is taking the 3D internet extremely seriously because it will take large increases in computing power to make a 3D internet possibile. As one of the largest chip makers in the world, this could significantly benefit Intel's bottom line.

Along with an increase in processing power, Justin also pointed out some other elements that will need to be improved to make a 3D internet a reality. These elements include: Improved servers that handle many concurrent users, more realistic graphics, standardized user interface and avatar specifications and better navigational devices.

3Dwalkthroughs.com is actively researching the various programming protocols which will be the building blocks of a 3D internet. As part of this research we have been testing the integration of 3rd party avatars into our 3D walkthroughs and Interactive 3D products.

Each week we will give an update on the findings of our research into the upcoming 3D Internet...stay tuned.
